Frequent iChat disconnects with Verizon Mifi SCH–LC11

Hi,

I am having trouble with iChat and the Samsung SCH–LC11 Mifi device. There seems to be no support on this issue with either verizon or samsung, so I am looking to see if anyone has had issues with frequent iChat disconnects and have found a method for fixing it.

Running OSx 10.6.8, iChat ver 5.0.3 (745).

Tried specifically opening ports through software and hardware firewalls, and forwarding the required port to the laptop.

As a note, internet/vpn connections do not drop out on the laptop. At least not long enough to notice.
