Fresh install...How to save settings? (Mail, Adium,...)

Okay,

I finally got myself an external HDD.

I backed everything up via Time Machine.

I will move my music library over to the external drive as well, which will take a while, but is worth it.

After I've done that I would like to do a fresh reinstall of OS X, but am very worried I lose my Adium settings/contacts, mails and such things.

Any help is appreciated.

basically most of you application settings are in your home library in application support and preferences. mail keeps your emails and settings in the mail folder in your home library.

I would recommend using BackUp http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/backup312.html as you can select individual settings or pref's to be save then once you reinstall your OS just restore the backup it's works wonders for you & can a time save.

I did this video for someone else that wanted to backup & or restore there iWeb site & the same can be done with iTunes.
