Fresh install of OSX on new MCP

Hey, I get my MCP on Wednesday. I remember reading somewhere someone suggesting that I should Reinstall OSX right away when I get it and not add some of the stuff I don't need, drivers and languages.

Does this make sense to do with a 500GB hard drive? I'm not that tech savvy and don't know what drivers and stuff I won't need. Any Advice?
