Fresh install on stock SSD any different?

I would like to do a fresh install of OS X 10.6 on my 2011 mbp with the stock SSD. Since this is my first computer with an SSD, I wanted to know if there are any precautions I should take. I've read various negative effects of formatting SSD's particularly performance related ones.
