I have the latest 21.5 iMac with mavericks installed.

this is the third OS ive had on it, and i have put and deleted multiple programs on this machine, i want to start over.

can someone point me where to look or advise me on how-to restore fresh with just mavericks installed?

thanks.

command-r boot to the recovery partition then start Disk Utility and erase Macintosh HD. Then quit Disk Utility and click install OS. That will reinstall Mavs on a blank drive and give you nothing but Mavs when you are done.

Of course any apps and data on there will be gone also.

i put mavericks on a SDCARD, since i only have a 4gb usb flash drive. will the imac see this just like a usb?

Assuming you made the installer card properly, yes it will work the same way.

There really is no need to go to the trouble of making the SD card though unless you just want to have it on hand for the future. Doing what I described in my earlier post will get you the same clean install result.
