Fresh Upgrade from Lion to ML

Have been debating about purchasing a new Hard drive to install ML onto instead of wiping my existing one, Has anyone got a rough guide what I would need to do to prepare the new drive, and how would I install ML onto it if i download it from the Mac App Store ?

Since this is my first macbook, I am worried about buggering this whole thing up since I have no experience with Mac OS upgrades.

Any help would be much appreciated !

U should be able to create a USB right after downloading it.
