Freshen my Mac up?

So it seems like my mac has gotten little problems here and there (i guess from installing and deleting software or something)...

But like... its a bit sluggish... I have problems with various fonts and what not... some programs crash here and there... I have icons in my top right menu bar area (no idea what its called) that I can't get rid of.

Basically, if this was my windows machine, I'd do a fresh-reinstall...


..My question for mac is... what options are there? I dont want to lose all my software and what not, but its starting to bug me alot dealing with the little glitches.

Onyx is a good maintenance tool. Give that a try first

I recommend Onyx as well. Quite good for general system maintenance.

Sorry to state the obvious, but have you tried repairing your disc permissions?

Or for the really obvious: have you tried restarting?

I would suggest for the fonts go into fontbook and do the resolve duplicates and either delete or disable the duplicates. Also verify the fonts.
