When I updated my iPhone the "natural" way, it worked fine to 2.1, even though its unlocked.

When my friend did it the same way, it goes to the connect to iTunes screen/slide for emergency, but shows it has T-Mobile Service and Wi-Fi is turned on. Please help me help him.

HELP! ONLY ONE VIEW? He really needs his phone back! we do not have access to Windows tools, we just want to hacktivate the thing so he can use his phone again!

downgrade to 2.0.2 and quicklwn it on a windows machine. That is the only way I know how to do it.

TRY DOWNGRADING.
IF it is bricked which its most likley not then you are at the worst , it doesnt get worst. BUT ITS NOT BRICKED.

Everything apperantly works, I just need a way to bypass the Slide for Emergency Screen. Does anyone have any way I can remove the Slide for Emergency Screen?

The first rule of upgrading firmware is downgrading..... dehacking upgrading and rehacking!

Try this method now!

Download appdelete.
Download iTunes 7.7
Download Pwnagetool 2.0.3
Download iPhone firmware 2.0.2
Download the Bootloader Files.

delete itunes 8 with appdelete
start pwnagetool 2.0.3.
Read the sticky on the main iPhone Hacks page.

reset everything back to 2.0.2. and bypass activation.
you can't bypass activation of 2.1 yet.

and it's not bricked. bricked = can't ever be used and the flash screwed up.

Did you fix his phone?
Because mine is still in emergency slide mode. I need to fix this. I have tried to downgrade, I don't know of it was successful, because it is still in emergency mode. *3001#12345#* doesn't work at all, so I don't know what version do I have. quickpwn catches an error right at the point were it check if iphone is plugged in. winpwn doesn't work either for some reason.
HELP!!!

I don't have a Mac unfortunately, still waiting for windows version.
But, do you guys know how to check a firmware version when it is in emergency slide mode? I am not sure which one I have.

create a custom firmware with the Pwnage tool of 2.0, restore with that, then update to 2.1.

It's not tough. If you're looking for someone to write you a step by step guide, no one is because this has been discussed a 100x over on this board.

Well, I have tried that before, it didn't work. iTunes encountered a problem during a restore to a custom firmware :(
