Should I make the jump from my current 16P to 16PM? Maybe I will after they release the 17 models and the price would hopefully drop a bit for the 16PM.

But my question is, how long will Apple be supporting the 16PM for?
That's my only concern.

Think I will be skipping the 17 model.

iPhone X from 2017 was released with iOS 11 but can only upgrade to iOS 16
iPhone XS from 2018 was released with iOS 12 but can only upgrade to iOS 18
iPhone 11 Pro from 2019 was released with iOS 13 and it's possible that iOS 26 (19) could be the last upgrade.
iPhone 16 Pro from 2024 was released with iOS 18 so the possible last upgrade would be iOS 31 (24)

Apple publicly commits to at least five years of iOS updates from launch date, though it frequently goes a year or two longer, followed by two years of security updates.

The 16PM looks huge and that's one of my deal breakers. 6.9inch display is kinda huge for my taste.

I'll be holding on to the 16P at the moment.

Thank you for the feedback

I have the 16PM and if I had a do over, I'd probably go back to a 16P. I have average sized hands. It's not a big deal though. I still enjoy the phone. Since I like to run and be active, a regular pro would fit better in some of my running belts and things like that.

Where did you gain this deep knowledge so shortly after opening a thread?
Why where you concerend about the support of the 16 PM when you now stick to the 16 P? They will have exactly the same time frame.

I've found it to be the perfect middle ground. I also never have to worry about them running out at launch, since everybody is usually going for the PM.

If you wait until 17 pro / pro max is released, the 16 PM will disappear very quickly.

Personally I would not upgrade on the same model year and instead upgrade in the next or next 2 model year. You don't gain much (if anything) if you upgrade on the same model year or the next year over.

The more I use it the more I think the old pro max size (6.7”) is the sweet spot.
