"from address" display format question

When I receive emails why do only email addresses display in the inbox but when I open the actual messages the full names from my address book display correctly in the from field? For example.

INBOX
hotass88@gmail.com

OPEN MESSAGE
Jessica Alba


I want the full names to display in the root of the INBOX as well as the open message.
