Hi,
I did a search for a few pages on updating iPhones/firmware etc, and have been reading for a while now on the availability in Canada.
I've come to a couple of conclusions: 1) Rogers is the reason iPhone isn't here, apparently in an industry of 40% profit margains insane data rates are still ok. And 2) If it isn't announced here at Macworld I doubt it's going to be for a long time, because everything seems to have gone quiet even for rumors.
So I may as well bite the bullet and get one, because no other phone on the market appeals to me. It's amazing how when apple enters a market everything else looks shabby by comparison.
My question is this (Sorry if it's been asked before, but I did do that search and didn't find anything): If I buy an unlocked 1.1.1 phone and use it here, if and when the thing becomes legitimately available would it become safe for me to just update the firmware as normal do you think? I'll take guesses as answers haha, my only worry is that because I'm a compulsive updater (it takes me great patience to not update my PSP's firmware until alternatives come along for example) I'll be fighting that urge all the time.
Any help appreciated.
