Hello,

Currently my company use all Mac Book Pro Laptops YEAR 2017.

I heard about new Mac Laptops with the M1 Apple Chip.

I am trying to explain my management that moving forward they should start to buy the new Mac Laptop with the M1 Apple Chip.

Besides having the Apple Protection Plan expired on each Mac Book Pro Laptops 2017 (that means any single damage that will happen to our current Mac Book Pro Laptop 2017, it will cost us lots of money to repair), I am also try to find a real scenario example that will explain the reason to upgrade of our Mac Laptop Year 2017 to the new Apple Chip M1.

What are the benefits of the M1 Apple Chip? I am not looking for faster, performance, etc. I am more looking for reasons such as (for example) moving forward Applications on Mac OS won't run anymore on Mac Book Pro with Intel Chip. Something like that. Example, I just noticed when I download Google Chrome for mac OS, now I have 2 different versions: Intel Chip vs Apple Chip. Again these are just examples.

I am just trying to build my case.

Thank you.

Before I give you my advice, do you need windows support ? Gamer ? bootcamp ? If you said yes to those, then keep the intel macbook, if not.. until M1 can support windows which most likely it won't just like PowerPC and Intel wouldn't work with each other and 68k and PowerPC without an emulator, then go ahead and get M1 to safeguard your investment. Remember, after the 2015 Macbook Pro any DIY upgrades have been stopped.. what you get is what you pay for. Example in point - if you like others bought the 16 inch 2019 macbook pro before the M1 came out, those folks are SOL and bought expensive VERY EXPENSIVE paperweights. Buy what you need now... and make wise choices.

Really the bottom line is; DO YOU NEED WINDOWS OR NOT ? If not, then go M1 and do all native Mac. I have many Macs, mostly PowerPC, 2010 MacPro, 2015 and 2012 Macbook Pros. I may get an M1 I may not simply because I hate Intel and M1 reminds me of the PowerPC days - Think Differently maybe ?

does it mean that pple is selling paperweights? :) i mean, the 16" was at the time of selling the best macbook ever created...thats how it was presented :)
It does the things in the same way how it done 6months ago..is the equipment gone bad? or peoples minds make it obsolete? :)
