what resolution/size should I select in photoshop to prepare images to import FCP at a 16:9 ratio for HD?

Any advice?

Use one of Photoshop presets when you create a new Photoshop document. Depending on what you are editing, 1920x1080 or 1280x720 with square pixels for HD, or 1440x1080 with stretched pixels for HDV.
