iPhone 12 Pro Max Front facing camera over smooths/not good

In a well lit environment the front facing camera does fine but night time photos are really disappointing. Not sure if software can fix this or if I have a defective camera.
I really don't see any over-smoothing in your first pic. Are you trying to take good pics for a girl? lol
Lol not at all. I just feel like the second picture in my post looks over smoothed. Maybe the night mode is finicky
