Quite shocking if it's true but can anyone confirm it?
Regular glasses typically also don’t use actual glass anymore. Glass lenses are heavier, more fragile, and more expensive to make. IPhone camera lenses (not the flat protective cover) are also made of plastic.

The VP front glass would be very difficult to make with real glass, due to its shape.

Imagine the uproar when people break the front glass and complained Apple should’ve made it out of plastic. Whatever Apple did was the right choice.

I'm more surprised at the front being so soft. That got wrecked so bad. Pretty much all phones scratch at 6-7 but that thing got scratched real quick lol.

Lenses being plastic is not surprising. Luckily they should avoid most scratches and you should be careful how you clean them. I think even if they do get some small light scratches they should be fine. Your eye can't really see scratches when the lense is that close.

How long until we get lense protectors?? lol. I wear glasses so I'll need to buy those expensive lenses anyway

It’s real 3D glass but laminated with a layer, he mentions that in the video

The thing is, is after he takes the plastic off and tries to bend and break the actual glass it is very durable and he can't seem to get it to break without using a level 8-9 pick to dig into the glass. I don't think it's for a protection reason why the thing isn't all glass and uses plastic on the front, it probably has a little to do with how light or cameras need to work with it. It is definitely odd.
