Front Row 'Resume' Issue

Okay so I have seen a few other people complaining about this but it is a strange issue. When watching movies from my 'moves folder' (usually .avi's but can even be mp4) there is no option to "resume" watching at a particular place within front row. It works fine for movies within the itunes movies store or even podcasts but not with any 'non-apple-received' movie. what gives?
