Peace in Plainfield
I'm having some annoying issues trying to get divx3 video to run in quicktime and frontrow. The audio plays, but not the video (it just shows black). I tried installing divx.com codecs, flip4mac, 3ivx, persian, everything else under the sun. But after reboots and everything else, it still refuses to play the video. VLC says the video is div3, "file" command on the video says its something like "DivX 3 slow-motion" or something or other.
QT/Frontrow plays DivX5 just fine, so I don't believe that it is that I don't have the codecs. I have been able to play these videos in the past (divx 3), but after a hard drive crash, and a reinstall, I am trying to get it working again.

I am not at my system right now but I am thinking that I could possibly delete the persian, divx.com, 3ivx, etc codecs from /Library/Quicktime and reinstall divx from scratch to maybe give quicktime a fresh start. But I don't see how that affects one form of divx and not another. I'm just lost for ideas, any kinda ideas (aside from converting them to some other form :p) would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long post, just frustrated.

Edit: Figured it out, I guess you have to install the divx codec first, run the video, then you can install all the other codecs afterwards. XviD codec tries to play the video but fails and QT/FR keeps wanting to use XviD codec until you remove it from the Library/QuickTime folder and let it use the Divx codec. FYI for anyone else who have the same issue :)
