hi everyone. sorry for the dumb question but this is my first mac. and just got it today. how can i save files or software onto an external hard drive? I have frostwire and want to save it on the external hard drive? and save the songs on there too. so i dont take up the space on the mac. thanx everyone :)

I don't really understand the question. You plug in the drive and drag and drop files onto it, same as on Windows. If the drive is formatted as NTFS, you'll need to install MacFUSE and NTFS-3G for read/write support.

meaning. i just downloaded frostwire. and tried saving it to my external hard drive and it doesn't let me. it just says: "please drag image file to applications and open it from there" .. but i'd rather run everything from my e.d. so it doesnt take up space on my mac. :) thanx

You must run the application from your Applications folder to open the app aka drag the image file.

Once you download stuff from the application itself, THEN you can transfer the files to your external drive. The application won't take up much space.
