I tried restoring my mac to factory settings. I did everything right except that now it will not move past the gray apple screen right before the restart. It just keeps going black, plays the restart sound and stays on that screen. I even tried ejecting the CD to see if that helped and well, it didn't. Any suggestions? I really do not want to take it to Best Buy, it's 4 years old and I'd rather not!

You shouldn't even consider taking it to Best Buy even if it was brand new (or especially if it was brand new!).

Anyways, how exactly did you go about restoring it to factory settings? The proper steps, so you can see if you followed them, is to start up from the original OS Install Disk, open Disk Utility and erase the drive, and then proceed with the standard install.

Did you do it that way or some other way?
