I setup a FTP server on one of our new G5s. But for some reason, I can't login from any other macs (connection failure). When I try to login from a PC, it's fine. Really strange. Help?

are you sure you typing in the addresses properly...
the only reason i start there is the "fpt" thing

Sorry about the typo. No, I tried it many times on several machines (Macs and PCs) and got the same result. I can only lon on to the FTP server from PCs.

I tried to use web brosers ("ftp://user:pass@address") and ftp clients (Fetch on Macs).

I don't know why my semicolon looks like a smily face.

What kind of error are you getting in Fetch?

Have you tried connecting using terminal?

ftp ipaddress

should prompt for username password and should it fail, you may get a better error message.

Just a thought.

With Fetch, it says ""...the connection to the host is refused." Ftp through the OS X terminal worked though. Weird, maybe different clients use different ways to connect to the server and server only allows certain ways. I am not sure. Urgghh.
