FTP - This server will not allow . . .

ARRRGGGG!!

My mac book pro insists on not letting me connect to es file explorer through FTP. The error message is "This server will not allow anymore users etc"

what is causing this?

tested the link with a windows machine and had done what i set out to do in 1/10th of the time i'd spent trying to get the mac to work!

Any ideas on the fix?
