FTP Troubles

So, I just jailbroke my ipod and now I want to connect my computer to it through an FTP. I'm using Cyberduck and I know about putting in the IP Address, and the username and password, but whenever I try to connect my ipod jumps off the wifi and the connection times out. I've tried this on a couple of differant wifi networks and neither of them work. Am I gonna need to start messing with the firewall settings? Oh, and I am using a SFTP so that's not the problem.
