Hey all,

I'm confused and would like some help. Did a search on FTP on Mac and came across some articles from 2006 but not too helpful. Anyways, I wish to create a FTP server on my MacBook Pro such that another MBP can access it from another place (not on the same wireless network or even close by).
Is this possible on the MBP? Here is what I tried:
1. System Preferences
2. Sharing
3. File Sharing --> On
4. Options in File Sharing
5. FTP box checked
5a. MBP now gave me a ip address to give out

I tried the IP address on my iPad but it said page not found. It was [urlnot]ftp://xxx.xx.xxxx/[/url]

I am not sure why it wouldn't work. My iPad is on the same wireless network so there is no way I can really test this unless I actually give out the information to the third party who needs to get files off my laptop.

Lastly, I tried doing it by using DropBox however the files are so large that DropBox says it will take about 3 days to completely upload the files... FTP should be much faster, correct? Since it will be a direct connection to my laptop.

Thanks.
