Hi,

I have been one week surfing the web trying to find clear information, chat with apple etc... everything was confusing but finally...
Just came back from The Woodlands Apple Store with a brand new Verizon iphone 7 (black and 256GB) model a1660 (GSM and CDMA) purchased in-store (walk-in, outright .... no online) at full price (no Verizon account needed or even asked). Got home with the box unopened:
  1. swap the installed Verizon sim with a Vodafone Spain (GSM) sim.
  2. connect to itunes (iphone automatically starts) and wait...
  3. after a few seconds the beautiful itunes message "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked" (got the screen capture) shows up.
  4. now roaming Tmobile 4G from the Vodafone Spain sim
  5. Restored from previously saved backup.
  6. Restarted automatically.
  7. Updated to ios 10.0.2.
  8. Finally, all perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, no doubts, Verizon iPhone 7 model a1660 (CDMA and GSM) bought in Apple store is fully unlocked, nationally and internationnaly.

Any question please feel free to ask!!!!!

I am not saying how to do it, I only describe clearly how I did it and explain the results!! that is all!!!

You dont need to do anything or need itunes. Just put in any simcard and it will work. They are basically factory unlockd.

Why is itunes necessary?

Couldn't you just start it up with any non-Verizon SIM?
Yes, iTunes is unnecessary. You could put your T-Mobile (or other GSM) sim into the Sprint or Verizon model of the 7/7 Plus right there in the Apple Store and it'll work immediately.
