fullscreen on tv? defaults to my laptop screen..

i have a macbook, a mini-dvi to video adapter, and a regular tv.
it outputs fine. but no matter my setup if i DONT mirror the screens, it fullscreens quicktime on my laptop screen.

any ideas?
