Right, I get my 17" MBP i7 tomorrow (missed the delivery today!). I'm gonna fit an optibay and 500GB momentus xt as the system drive. So before I open it up and start poking with it how do I best check it's a good one.

How do I run it at full whack? Benchmarking programs? Then how do I measure it's temperature and what should it stay under? What other tests should I do/run to check it out as fully as possible?

Obviously I don't want to put the momentus xt in the main hdd bay, pull out the optical drive and fit the old hdd back in with the caddy, then find a week later it overheats or has memory/logic board faults, but equally I want to put stuff where I want it ASAP and get on with using it as my main machine!!!

Thanks in advance... :)

Two hard drives? I guess you're not concerned about battery life.
I'd recommend using it regularly for a few weeks, you should be able to find any flaws by then.
