The new MacBook Pro's 14.2" 3024x1964 display looks to be approximately the same vertical height as the 12.9" iPad Pro, with about 1.6" of extra width. It'll accommodate 33% larger videos at 16:9 or 2.35:1. This may be the size that ends up winning me over.

I am wondering how it will compare to the 15 inch previous generation MBP.

I have ordered the 16, but I am wondering if the 14 will be pretty much the same as my old 15.

I use the laptop as my main computer, no external monitor. The 13 inch screen size was a no go, too cramped.

My use case is office apps and command line stuff, so fitting two apps on my screen is my use case.

My last MacBook Pro, traded in back in May, was also a 15" so I was interested in that as well. Here's the same comparison website (http://www.displaywars.com/) used to compare the new 14" with the legacy 15":
