OK. I'm having fun.
I use comcast for my email/internet.
I set up three separate accounts each using the same return mail server:
mail.comcast.net, but with separate smtp account names, password etc.

No matter what smtp setting i use to send mail, i get 3 duplicate emails when anyone replies to my message.

If I get a new message from someone the same thing happens. 3 duplicate messages.

What can I do to rectify this situation.

Comcast Keeps asking for my passwords, over & over again.

Thanks
James

Are you sure that the three accounts aren't sharing email? That is, when you log into one of the accounts via Comcast's webmail, do you only see the mail from that specific account, not the other two?

I ask because what you're describing should work, and I actually don't see how it would be duplicating incoming mail otherwise. I run a very similar setup at home and have never had issues.

That said, it sounds like you're running OSX 10.3; if upgrading to 10.4 is at all an option (with the included update to Mail v2), it might be worth it, as Mail 2 is much more robust than earlier versions.

Thanks Makosuke,
I don't use comcast's webmail. As you suggest that just as a test?

What really bugs me is I keep getting asked for my passwords. Sometime
6-9 times throughout the day. Is this a Mac Mail issue or a Comcast problem.

I call comcast & they blame it on MacMail.

I find it strange that I get three messages anytime someone emails me.
I sent out to some friends a test 1,2,3 email, each from my separate comcast account & they received them from the different addresses.

Wish I understood MacMail more.
I am searching for the Tiger disks to upgrade as we speak.

Caio.
