I watched a video on YouTube and am kind of intrigued, how do you get these effects, do you need a special program?

Heres the link to the video by the way

Photo Booth in your Application folder.

Yea, I figured that much, but when I tried it, every time I changed the effect it stopped recording.

Am I able to put the effects on a video that was already created?

It looks like he's applying the effects to a webcam broadcast. I'm not sure exactly how he's doing it, but the effects look like they're the common built-in Photo Booth effects.

I agree. :) Thank you for your help.

Anyone else have suggestions?

I dont think he meant the OSX screen capture, he meant a program like iShowU which records the screen in real-time video.

Ahhh! He didn't mention any 3rd party app name, so "screen capture tool" meant "screen capture tool" to me. Imagine that! :D

he could be using multiple apps:

Photobooth + Snapzprox(Ambrosia software)

or

Photo booth records it and then he combines them with iMovie

hope this gives you an idea..

Couldn't he have just put effects on later with a program like Final Cut, Premiere or aftereffects?

Im not sure what program would do that as im not really a video guy... God bless Photoshop.....

See thats what I though of trying to do, but in iMovie, I couldn't find any effects, and then I searched on the Apple website and it gave like a worksheet to do. But I had no idea where they started. I just got all confused.

Here is said "Lesson"

well that tutorial uses the iMovie HD 06, if you purchased a new mac then it is now using the iLife 08.

you can download the copy of iMovie HD 06:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html

install it.. and then follow that tutorial.. iMovie 06 gives you more options.. i.e. effects..
rather than the new iMovie 08(the only thing I like about the new one is ease of use... you can create a video in less than 10 mins)
