Funky icons on Verizon iPhone

I have a Verizon iPhone running 4.2.6. When I go to send an instant message and take a photo the icons on the top of the screens are not filled with words such as Edit, camera roll or done. They look like a single line.

Is there anything I can so I can get back the appropriate words or icons?

Take a screenshot and post it. Press home and sleep keys together and the camera will take a screenshot.

Have you tried restoring or rebooting?
