I upgraded my Mac Studio to Sonoma Beta 2 yesterday (14.0 Beta (23A5301h)). Most things seem fine, and I am happy I did.

One thing has me a bit concerned, though - and yes, I know this is Beta - and that is some funky startup behaviour.

Twice now, when I start the Mac Studio from scratch, the login screen is "wrong." The wallpaper is back to standard, and the user info is not filled in. I.e. my User ID is "Killerbob," and I have a second user on my Mac, "AdMonkey". Usually, "Killerbob" is preselected, and all I have to do is type ethe password, however, these two times, the wallpaper is standard, the username and password fields are blank, and no matter what I type in, the response is not accepted.

The first time it happened, I was freaking out, thinking, "that's what I get for testing beta software." But, after a hard reboot, all is back to normal - "Killerbob" is preselected, and I can type in the password and get into Sonoma.

Anyone else experiencing this?

The snarky answer: I'm terrible at analyzing the code within macOS and I'm sorry I can't pinpoint this particular bug in that particular beta release.

I don't mind reading posts about beta macos release issues when they're of the "has anyone else using this particular beta release noticed this" nature.

The answer is that's what you get for testing beta software. So…you're thinking is right on!

My question…why are you happy you upgraded to the beta…that is…what's the cool stuff you've found to which we can look forward?

Dude wth - all I am asking is if anyone else have experienced this issue?

No - I edited to reflect that it has happened twice now.
