I headed over to my buddies computer repair shop here in La Habra, CA. I needed to borrow an EZ-Dock to transfer stuff from my old HDD to my new one Apple so kindly replaced for me.
Whenever I visit the shop, I usually hang out for a couple hours to mingle and poke a little fun at the ignorance of his many customers. As we got to talking, I saw that he had a G5 he was repairing and a 24 iMac as well. Curious, I asked who they belonged to and what they were in repair for.
He told me about the G5 and then went on to tell me that the iMac was my brothers. Before I could ask any questions, I knew why my brother didn't come to me for help because of the fact that we're not on speaking terms, but that still didn't stop my curiosity as to why he had brought it in for repair in the first place. So I went ahead and asked my buddy to share the details of what and why the repairs needed to be done.
He said this almost word for word. "Your brother came in and said that he needed all the files recovered on his HDD." I asked him if it was because my brother's HDD died and he went on to explain. "No, that's the funny thing about this whole situation. Your brother said he was sitting and starring at his computer screen for a few minutes, when all of sudden, he watched as all his files on his computer get dragged to the trash and then deleted."
After hearing this, I was in complete shock and dumbfounded. I said, "Who stairs at a computer screen and doesn't do anything to their computer for minutes?" His response was, "well yeah, I know, but I just told him it was virus, wrote him an invoice and off he was." I kind of laughed and moved on to another conversation.
Although I moved on in conversation, my thought was much still on what I just heard. I kept thinking it just doesn't make any sense at all.
His computer was at his girlfriends and I think something came up where his girlfriend did something and he's too afraid of hurting his reputation to tell the truth.
Just a small story/rant and want to see if anyone else wants to chime in with some thoughts or theories as to what that was all about.
