Fusion 4 consuming all my memory

I have an 2011 iMac with 8GB ram running Lion 10.7.1

Installed fusion 4 and created a VM wiht windows 7. I allocated 3 GB of RAM to fusion figuring I had 5 GB of RAM for the iMac itself. Well...

the only app running is Fusion and my free memory reaches zero and I hear the hard driving working on overtime. OK, what gives? I have been a big fan of Fusion in the past but version 4 eating all my memory is not acceptable. Suggestions?

Free memory is wasted memory. The real measurement that you need to concern yourself with is page outs. It doesn't matter if you 0 free ram, if you have a gig of inactive. Memory management is much different in OSX then windows.
