what is the difference if you buy flash when it has a fan in it anyway. What is the fan cooling? Intel chip or flash?

They'll all be quiet. That intel chip when it's working can get hot enough to bubble water IF not cooled.
I have 256 GB solid state drive in my 2011 iMac and my wife has the Fusion in her 2013 model. They both are extremely fast and quiet, and we are both completely pleased. Either option is a good one, depending upon how much storage space you need.
