When the 3G iPhone comes out will it be able to use the Edge network if 3G isn't available? I have no 3G service near my house but I do at work. I just bought an 8gig iPhone but may return it to wait for the new one. I have another week to bring back but will have to pay 10%. Tough decision, I wonder how much a 3G iphone would cost?

Yes.

Dude, next time do a thread search. This topic has been covered to death.

to be specific,
yes you will get EDGE even if 3G is not available because any 3G phones can work their way backwards if a certain connection isnt available.
So if your phone cant get a 3G signal, it will get an EDGE signal, if for some reason EDGE is not available also, then it will go to GPRS.

It would be silly to bite a $40-$50 fee to wait for a new phone that hasn't been announced and might not come out for months.
