I’ve had my Apple Vision Pro since this morning and have been using/ wearing it for most of the day.

It’s definitely an amazing device, but it is a v1 product and still suffers from many bugs/issues.

After my time with it the things that I’m really hoping Apple works on in the future for this product are:
1) the ability to bring your iOS device into the VR/AR space the same way you can with a Mac.
2) better window management
3) the ability for multiple people with Apple Vision Pro in close proximity to share a unified “reality”. Throw up a screen you can all see. Watch a movie together. Collaborate on a project.

What are your alls thoughts after some time with the device? What features are you looking for in future versions of visionOs?

I just want them to sort out the hardware flaws. Eliminate glare, improve passthrough quality, increase battery life, decrease weight by 75%. Until these things are fixed, this thing will be a hard sell for most people. And honestly I don't see these things getting fixed for another 5-10 years. The technology just isn't there yet.

I doubt whether that is true. A lot of the audience are VR/AR newbies who won’t necessarily have experienced these things before, and for a lot of them the Vision Pro may be a resounding success.

I think also that generative AI and a vastly improved Siri may be a game changer for this device, since by definition while you’re wearing it there is an always-on microphone near your mouth.

Hello, what do you guys think the Apple Vision Pro will look like once it matures in about 8-9 years like the Apple Watch ⌚️ or iPhone 📱? Will it be smaller and lighter 🪶 like a pair of sunglasses or still be bulky and heavy? 😎 Lastly will it be much cheaper like around $500. I know all the software bugs should be worked out in 8 years.

What do you think?

The iPad was released on 2010 and 1 year after we got the iPad 2

Same thing for the iPhone and Apple Watch

What do you believe they will improve first?

-Weight?
-FOV?
-Glare/Smearing?
-Passthrough quality
-Price reduction?

Things like multiple monitor when looking at a Mac I believe they can include it with VisionOS 2

Have to account for inflation so there's zero chance you'll see this at $999 in 8 to 9 years.

If the product line does exist that far ahead in some form, I think sub 2k for a base model would be affordable/attractive for most average workers in the west.

Many of us are thinking in the nearer term though, ie. model 4 or 5 - if Apple do a yearly update (which I personally am not confident of but think is easily possible as most new models could simply drop features as opposed to adding them, while improving the software).

The price of a lower end model 4 or 5 is going to be very interesting. The concept will still likely be unproven to be useful, but it may be priced low enough to tempt consumers into a new entertainment gadget.

I’m guessing there will be a lower end model before Apple Vision Pro 2. They’ll expand the user base before improving the experience. I think an Apple Vision Sport in late 2024 to mid 2025 and then Apple Vision Pro 2 in 2026.

Reckon they'll delete a bunch of features and market it with some new apps that appear around then. Family focused, entertainment etc. It will still be too expensive for teens to buy, or convince their parents it's a 'necessity' like a posh 1 grand iPhone, or a computer, so they need to target young trendy professionals (people who have decent jobs and get credit, not wannabe 'pros' that think they need power features while freelancing on Fiverr), and the generation above who have stability and wealth and want family and hobby type use cases.

If you can work out what those demographics want, then you can probably take a stab at what the next Vision lite will look like.

Also disagree about any sort of sport model anytime soon. Tech isn't there yet but I hope it's not too far off. I'd love to ride outdoors on a mixed AR pair of sports glasses, or indoors on Zwift in VR.

Those need to weigh around a pair of Oakleys while streaming data. Indoor use is worse again - it's way hotter training indoors than out. One training session and you're covered in sweat.

A lower end model would be enough to run VR golf and all that, but it's nothing new and not worthy of a 'sport' moniker.

Power play is Apple buy Peloton and release a headset that incorporates their platform. But again - it's a pipe dream - headset would be disgusting after a single use. You couldn't even see after a few mins!

I hope Apple includes a ThunderBolt 4 port so you can directly connect it to your Mac, while your Mac provides also all the power.

And you also have no input lag due to the connection between Mac and AVP being ThunderBolt 4.

Apple will not move on making any changes to the VP until they see how customers have taken to the VP because whilst the hype of the product is real, reality could be much much different once customers get their hands on the VP and try it out and report back on forums such as this their feedback on the device.

Yeah since this is like a computer 🖥️ on your face, I feel the price may go down to $1,500.

I would like see the Vision Pro as light and compact and small like a pair of sunglasses. It seems too bulky and heavy for your face and head in its current form

Too soon? I think not! While the hardware is obviously gen 1 and has flaws that have been thoroughly discussed, the OS itself will likely rapidly evolve now that they’ve finally shipped.

After only one short day with my Vision Pro I can already see the potential to drastically simplify my home office setup and utilize this device as a productivity powerhouse (pending any long term discomfort that may arise, of course).

However I’m already finding myself making a small wishlist of OS changes and additions that I’d love to see Apple make in the coming months.

On the small tweak side, I think having the menu that’s currently behind the triangle that you have to look up towards should instead be somewhere else in a more ever present way. I find myself unable to activate it in certain scenarios (the triangle won’t appear) and having to look up towards it is less than ideal.

I also think it’d be great to have the app home and control center icons available at a glance instead of behind a menu. I’m still adjusting to asking Siri to open things for me, but pushing the Digital Crown to get the app selection takes me out of the experience by forcing my hand to move to the device.

On the control center side, I think they should add a shortcut within the environment settings menu to select a different environment so that there is more than one way to change your selection. This would make for a less disruptive experience compared to navigating back to home, then navigating to the environments menu, then selecting a new one.

The biggest software feature that’s missing for me right now is the ability to save window layouts. I am absolutely blown away by the ability to transform my small home office into a sprawling canvas set by the lake in the shadow of a mountain, but that is not the only place I will be using this device. As is, I have to rebuild my window layout each time I switch contexts. I’d love to see Apple allow window layouts to be saved as presets, almost like focus modes, that can in one quick switch completely change context without manually setting up anything again.

These are my initial observations after only 24 hours with the device (sadly missed the delivery attempt on Friday so had to wait until yesterday - a true tragedy).

What sort of observations have our AVP community made and what are you hoping to see Apple add to visionOS sooner rather than later?

I would love to customize the top button and change it to triggering control center.

Standard model $2.5K, SE model with kid-size options $1.5K. Battery tech / packaging should have matured so that it can be a balanced unitary device.

one of my biggest inconveniences so far is not being able to answer a quick text while say in the Disney theater watching a 3d movie. For some reason doing so pulls me out of the immersion and it’s a pain to get back into as it requires backing out of the movie

I have a tendency to write down lists of what I wish was different with the product. Sorry this is a bit raw, I just copy pasted it:

A way for two headsets to view the same movie/content in sync, so you can watch something with another person (say on an airplane)

A way to check charge % without putting the headset on (currently you can only see fully charged, versus charging on the battery pack itself)

Have the audio pods able to fold in so that the headset can be packed smaller

higher capacity battery pack options

A gesture to open “home”

Seasonal affective treatment?

There should be a way to have TV, movie, video content mirrored to a TV so that friends, family, etc. can all watch TV together and be buddies(yes, there’s a Lego movie quote in my wish list)

I’m ready for visionOS 2.0 in June.

There’s four things Apple will likely show us: fitness apps, immersive Apple Maps, customization and Persona coming out of Beta.

1) more comfort, less weight
2) less glare, no glare
3) the foveated rendering area is too narrow. It creates a blurry / prismatic / holographic feeling
4) better VST latency
5) better VST camera quality. Why does it look like a 2000s era 720p webcam(?)
6) get rid of eyesight
7) carbon fiber or titanium frame
8) multi monitor support for Mac

Nice to have:
9) partially coiled battery cable similar to almost all wired studio headphones that solved this problem 50 years ago
10) I’m not a fan of the glass on the front, but that a personal thing. Not a deal breaker.

Yes, I would like the AVP to get that small and less bulky as it is now. If former apple designer Jon Ive was still at Apple then the AVP would definitely be thinner and less bulky

One things is certain.

This first iteration for sale will be the absolute worst Vision Pro that Apple will ever make.

It will be interesting to see future developments based on user experiences with the inaugural version of the product.
