Let's assume there is no fix for the death grip and everyone eventually forgets about it.

What happens in 18/24 months time when we start selling our iPhone's on ebay and buyers start paypal disputes for faulty items because they think we've sold them a dodgy phone?

Paypal are not going to buy "hold it a different way"

this is my only concern!
 
There's not doubt that people trying to sell the iPhone 4 in a year or two are going to find a less receptive resale market.

That's because it's eventually Apple is going to correct this hardware problem, and blogs and sites will show how they're manufacturing the phone differently months from now, so anyone stuck with the original phone design is going to be stuck with a known lemon.

in that case you can go into an apple store and exchange the known lemon with a working one, within a year.
