I found it interesting when I was in Best Buy that 90% of the windows laptops were 16:9 aspect ratio. I currently have a 11" MBA and a 27" iMac...both being 16:9.

While I understand the benefits that come from the current 16:10 macbooks, I have to say something bothered me about the screen ratio in apples laptops (16:10 in 13" air, 13" mbp ^). Being use to the media format 16:9, the screen ratio 16:10 almost looked dated (to me)... just a little in the way that 4:3 feels dated to 16:10.

What are your thoughts on 16:10 vs 16:9?

Do you see apple adopting 16:9 for the rest of the macbooks? (like the 11" mba).

Thanks.

copypasta:

16:9 is used for displays which will primarily be used for movies, as it provides the best average between the old 4:3 TV format and the various wider movie formats

16:10 is used for displays which will primarily display text / documents, as it provides a better ratio to display two full pages side-by-side.
