With a plethera of processor upgrades available to the entire G4 tower lineup with the exception of the MDD, I was wondering what the future holds in terms of upgradeability to the MDD's single and dual processors by third party manufactuers? I don't want to rule out the possibility of a G5 processor upgrade for the MDD's but citing the costs and the fact that the G4 and G5 are virtually night and day in comparison, most notably the FSB, make this an improbability, but has the processor upgrades available to the AGP, Sawtooth, and Quicksilver fallen short of the MDD?

If you put a G5 behind a 1GB/s FSB it'll perform worse that a G4.

The G4 is better suited to the slow 166Mhz FSB with it's big L2 cache and the ability to use a L3 cache.

Just because Apple stopped using the performace G4 processor doesn't mean that the upgrade companies won't eventually start using these processors.

Right now the G4s continue to be plug and play into the upgrade card these people already have designed compared to trying to stick in a G5.
