Fuzzy searches in Spotlight

I was wondering if there might be a way to do a fuzzy search in Spotlight. This would not be for actual file names, but for a very large body of pdfs that are partially machine-readable due to difficult typefaces. I might be wrong, but I don't think that there is a way to do wildcard searches in Acrobat Pro. (That is, I cannot use "Johns•n" to search for "Johnson" or "Johnsen.")
