FW cable

Hello all. New to forum and new to Mac world with a new 21.5 iMac. After 15 years of clunky, crash and virus prone PCs. Fabulous machine so far. One question: I have an Alesis MasterControl Firewire mixing board that I want to connect, but there are a couple discrepancies. The FW port on the back is allegedly FW 800, but it must be a mini-connect - is that right? Secondly, my board has FW400 full-sized port. Any suggestions where to find a cable that has a mini FW 800 connector on one end and a full size FW 400 connector on the other? I'd like to avoid adapters if possible.
Any direction is appreciated.

No, it's a regular FW800 port. From: http://www.apple.com/imac/specs.html:

They are plenty available at online stores, for example monoprice has the firewire 800 to 400 cables, as does Amazon etc...

Just be sure to put it in the right way in the right hole otherwise it might not fit right and she might get mad at you.
