Hi all - I feel pretty dumb about this, but I am having trouble figuring out which FW cable I need to use on my late 2009 iMac. I bought Amazon's IEEE 1394 4-Pin/6-Pin FW Cable but it doesn't fit into my iMac's port. The 6-Pin jack fits into my external HD fine. The only other FW cables I've ever had are 6-Pin to 6-Pin. I've only been using USB since I got the iMac, but found an old drive I want to attach.
What the heck do I need to get to fit into my iMac? Thanks in advance!

That's a FW800 port on your iMac which is 9 pin. You would need a FW800<->FW400 cable to connect a FW400 device to your iMac.

Thanks - looks like the good deal I got on that cable is looking less good. I'm assuming I can just get an adapter for it, yes?

You can get either a FW800<->400 Cable (9pin to 6pin) or a FW800<->400 Adapter (9pin to 6pin) that requires a FW400 6pin cable.

You may as well get the FW800<->400 cable. Here's a 3ft FW800<->400 9pin to 6pin cable.
