FW is strong in industrial uses even if not in consumer devices.

Anyones guess if S3200 consumer devices will come out outside of the mentioned 4 channel PCIe card.

FW is still dominant in high end video cameras, that may lightly continue.

I assume PracticalMac hopes Apple sticks with FireWire.

TBO, I hope so too. Yes, USB 3 is coming up, but FireWire still has some gr8 advantages, like Target Disk Mode.

Until LightPeak is here, having FireWire (800 / 1600 / 3200) and USB (2.0, 3.0) is a good thing.
