If you connect FW400 to FW800 with a converter would you get FW800 speeds or retain FW400? If you connect DisplayPort to DVI would you get DisplayPort quality signals or DVI?

you would only get Firewire 400 speeds. Display Port and DVI are both digital and so would be the same quality. but i think Display Port can now carry audio like HDMI.
DisplayPort has always been able to carry up to 8 channels of uncompressed PCM audio, per its original spec.
