I use an AirPort Express 2nd gen (A1392) as both an AirPlay device and a wired Ethernet extender on my AirPort Extreme Base Station. I wondered if I could use its LAN port as simply an extension to my LAN. Works great albeit it's only a 10/100 connection but I like to keep my stationary devices on wired Ethernet.

Hopefully the next APE will be 802.11AC and GigE on both ports.
