I am not sure how common this is, but I think with overall health care costs going up, this type of benefit is becoming more common. A couple of months ago my company started offering a reimbursement of up to $125 toward the purchase of a fitness tracking device. I was able to use this benefit to get a 42mm Apple Watch Sport this past weekend, as it does qualify as such a device. Last Spring my wife's company offered fit-bits to employees as part of their health program. It might be worth checking out your company benefits if you are thinking about getting such a device.
