I was just given 2 older G-Drive HDs, each with different connections on it. One has 1 USB and 2 FW400s; the other has 2 FW800s and 1 FW400. If I'm going to daisy chain the 2 drives, can I mix & match connections? For example, go from computer to drive 1 via FW400, then drive 1 to drive 2 via FW800... or usb from computer to first drive, FW800 to second one?

Thanks.

If you have a computer with Thunderbolt you can do a daisy chain in this way:

1. Thunderbolt drives (if any)
2. Firewire 800 drives with a converter Thunderbolt-Firewire from the Mac or Thunderbolt drive port.
3. Then the Firewire 400 drives.

The USB drive should be connected to the USB port.
The daisy chain "rule" is pretty easy: always put first the fastest drives.
