Am contemplating getting either a G-tech G-drive or the V3 Ministack from OWC. Any thoughts or advice as to which I should be leaning towards reliability-wise?

They are nice, but unfortunately they don't allow you to BYOD 
Because they're now owned by Hitachi, the only choice you'll have is Hitachi drives.

Both OWC and G-Tech are considered to be two of the best, I don't really consider either one of them a bad choice.

I have heard/seen plenty of complaints about Newertech enclosures, never heard a single one re Gtech.
Most of the complaints centre around silly things like too much noise but some are performance/reliability oriented.
I think the Newertech does use a slightly different bridge chipset, check with the respective OEM's.
