I posted this in a thread about the new Airport but it seems relevant here. LaCie has made this for a long time.

I looked at the PDF and it seems to be the Newertech design with a SATA II interface.

Interesting, I have been in the market for one of these for quite some time now!

Thanks for your replies,

The biggest concern for me is the devices getting hot, and thus the fans running constantly or frequently and being noisy.

Out of the 4:

LaCie mini Hard Drive & Hub: http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10462
G-Mini: http://www.g-technology.com/Products/pdf/G-MINI.pdf
Mini Mate: http://www.micronet.com/General/minimate.asp
Mini Stack V2: http://www.newertech.com/products/ministackv2.php

What are peoples thoughts on the above 4?

Dave

I have owned the Newertechnology one before which worked decent. There is this heat sensor diode thing that was supposed to go onto the hard drive, but I removed it cos of the fan noise :D

Hard drive didn't die, works great.

I suspect all of these are really from the same factory somewhere in china, just that they are branded differently.
