For those that have an older/smaller capacity G-Technology - G-Raid external hard drive and were running out of space, it looks like you can upgrade them if you were wondering.

I had the 2TB model but found my space was running low since I was ripping all my movies and storing them on the drive. I picked up a couple of Hitachi 3TB hard drives (5K3000) from Newegg and installed them in the G-Raid enclosure. All I had to do was use Disk Utility to format the drive to get it to work and now have 6TB to expand/store my collection.

That paired with my networked Synology DS211j (configured for 6TB - same type of drives as above) that I'm using as my Time Machine storage is working out great.

I can't think of what to use the old 1TB drives that I pulled out the G-Raid for.
